5 Easy Ways to Support Your Liver

Your liver is responsible for regulating, storing, secreting, transforming and breaking down hundreds of substances in your body through over 200+ functions a day. It never stops working! Thus, it’s important to treat it with the care and respect it deserves—with fresh, whole, cleansing, colorful organic fruits and vegetables, and nourishing herbal supplements. Here are five very easy ways to support your liver (and a few more after the graphic).

If you need additional support, one of the best herbs you can give your liver is milk thistle; the extract is known as silymarin. Silymarin prevents damage to the liver by acting as an antioxidant and enhancing the detoxification process. Enjoy it as a cleansing tea or as a tincture. Some other herbs you can drink as tea or take as a tincture include: Dandelion root, burdock, yellow dock, eleuthero (Siberian ginseng), licorice, and artichoke leaf.

Here are a few more ways to support your liver: avoid fried foods and refined fats, avoid eating late at night, get to bed between 10-11 p.m., manage stress, and limit exposure to toxins.

Just remember...consistent, balanced meals high in fiber, lean proteins, healthy fats, and plenty of fruits and veggies will keep your liver functioning at its best!
